January 16, 2012 – INDIO, CA – Last year more than a million people requested the chance to audition for the popular game-show Wheel of Fortune. Less than 600 were selected to appear. One of those lucky letter sleuths was Fantasy Springs Resort Casino’s own Senior Graphic Designer, Dennis Wodzisz.

Wodzisz, a self professed Wheel fanatic, says he grew up watching the show with his parents and grandparents and was spellbound when he got selected to compete.  
“The audition process was rigorous, there were paper tests and practice puzzles, and I even had to demonstrate how I would spin the wheel.”  Wodzisz says.

After working for a casino, you would think the bright lights and excitement would help the Palm Springs resident feel at home. Much to the contrary, Wodzisz says, “It all felt very surreal.”   He did get a personal well wish from a sweat-suit clad Vanna White, who stopped by the set to say hello on her way to hair and make-up. 

While Wodzisz couldn’t let us in on the outcome of the game-show, he could tell us what the biggest surprise of the day was for him. “It blew my mind, how small the wheel was!”

January 16, 2012 – INDIO, CA – Fantasy Springs Resort Casino announces, Alejandra Guzman, will perform at the Special Events Center on Saturday, February 25th. The Latin Grammy Award winning rock singer and actress has a huge fan base throughout Latin America.

Guzman recorded her debut album Bye Mama in 1988, which gave way for her first of many hits, “La plaga.”
In 1990 the songstress made it big, with the song “Eternamente Bella”, which became a number one hit in Mexico and other Latin countries.  The song is considered a classic by many Spanish rock fans.

Guzman won her first Latin Grammy Award in 2002 for Best Rock Solo Vocal Album for Soy.  In 2006, she released the award winning, double-platinum album, Indeleble. It won Album of the Year and Guzman nabbed the award for Best Female Pop Vocal. One of her best known songs, Volverte a amar, is from that album. The hit made it all the way to the #1 spot on the Hot Latin Pop Airplay chart.

January 16, 2012 – INDIO, CA – She is known for her trademark gravely but lustrous vocals, he is the super-producer, formerly of the Eurythmics. Together Joss Stone and Dave Stewart make up two-fifths of Mick Jagger’s eclectic group, SuperHeavy.

Throughout her career, Stone has sold 11-million albums, establishing herself as one of the best-selling artists of her time. Her fifth album LP1, released last summer, reached the Top 10 spot on the Billboard Charts. Stone has been obsessed with soul music since she was little. She began pursuing a singing career in her teens and auditioned for a UK talent show. This eventually led to a record deal and the release of Stone’s star-making debut album, The Soul Sessions in 2003.

Dave Stewart is a well know English musician, songwriter, and record producer. In the 1980’s, Stewart and Anne Lennox created the most successful pop-rock duo of all time, the Eurythmics.  Stewart has written songs and produced for dozens of well known artists including, Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks, and Tom Petty.

Now he’s hoping to do it again, with Super Heavy, the supergroup featuring himself along with Stone, as well as other legendary musicians including Mick Jagger, Damian Marley and A.R. Rahman. The diverse group just released their self-titled debut album in September. It showcases different musical styles, with music ranging from reggae to ballads to Indian genre.

JJanuary 9, 2012 – INDIO, CA –  It was a fantastic first weekend of the New Year for Valley resident Ramon M. The landscaper from Indio walked away a huge winner Saturday night. After earning two qualifying chances to become eligible for the Rolling out the Range Rover Giveaway, Ramon won his biggest jackpot to date. December 6, 2011- INDIO, CA – What makes a good New Years? It’s how you celebrate it. Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is offering partygoers several unique options to ring in 2012. (August 29) - Fight fans in the Coachella Valley are going to get a special treat on Friday, September 23 when former United States Olympians Vicente Escobedo (2004 games) and Rocky Juarez (2000 games) square off in a true cross roads fight.  Both are no strangers to high stakes competition, but when the bell rings at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California, it may be the biggest fight in the careers of both men as they each look to start another run at a world championship with a win in the main event of TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate.”

August 29, 2011- INDIO, CA – The call was made to the public to donate blood and save a life. On Friday, August 26th, 75 people from around the Coachella Valley made their way into Fantasy Springs Resort Casino to answer that call. The blood drive, put on by the Community Blood Bank, had a goal of reaching 42 pints of blood.

“Of the 75 people who came through the doors, we collected blood from 53 of them,” said Martin Arredondo, donor recruitment representative of the Community Blood Bank. Arredondo called this the most successful blood drive at the resort/casino to date.

Each pint of blood can save up to three lives, according to the Community Blood Bank’s website. From Friday’s blood drive alone, up to 159 people’s lives could be saved, thanks to the generosity of donors at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Each donor received movie tickets, a certificate to El Pollo Loco and was entered to win a gas card worth up to $500 and tickets for two to the September 23rd Golden Boy Boxing event at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. August 22, 2011- INDIO, CA – Some people say the number seven is lucky when in comes to gambling. In many cultures, the number eight is a preferred numeral. For Cheryl T. of Indio, CA, her number is the double digit 16. Cheryl became the 16th of 36 finalists to qualify to score an extreme electronics prize package worth more than $15,000.00. Saturday night, August 20th, each contestant was called to the game stage to select a two gigabyte flash drive at random from an oversized, metal bowl. The portable storage devices bore numbers on them which corresponded to the numbers on the giant prize wheel.
