STORY IDEAS

Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is located in between the beautiful Santa Rosa and Chocolate mountain ranges in the Palm Springs Valley. The area boasts wonderful stories of celebrities, pioneers and now, entrepreneurs. Many people ask what there is to do around Palm Springs. One quickly discovers it's difficult to do everything in the area in just a few days. Whether visitors come to Fantasy Springs for gaming, golf or to enjoy the surrounding area, it offers something for everyone.
Ideas you may want to consider if your assignment brings you to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and the Palm Springs, CA area.

  • "Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is a short drive from Palm Springs. What is there to do if someone is staying there?” Besides gaming, playing golf, dining, taking in A-list entertainment, guests can get an in-room or cabana massage, visit the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, go for an ATV tour through the desert, visit the nearby famed Joshua Tree National Park, go shopping at the Rodeo Drive of Palm Springs – El Paseo and much more.
  • “Palm Springs has often been known as the playground of Hollywood celebrities. Do Hollywood-types frequent your resort?” Do they ever! Celebrities can be spotted often at Fantasy Springs and at Eagle Falls Golf Course. The resort hosts several high profile and charity tournaments throughout the year that feature celebrity golfers. The hotel and restaurants have also been frequented by Playboy Playmates, musicians and more.
  • “Plan a Nearby Southern California Getaway.” The price of gas still fluctuates and with the economy still uncertain, many people are looking for a less-expensive alternative to a far-away destination resort. Fantasy Springs Resort Casino has it all in terms of the ultimate destination resort. Palm Springs, CA boasts an average 354 days of sunshine and Fantasy Springs features an inviting oversized pool and sundeck surrounded by palm trees. Guests can have drinks and lunch served to them as they bask in the warm desert rays. Room rates are affordable at Fantasy Springs and visitors get to skip the long drive to Las Vegas and the gas money it takes to get there.
  • Award-winning chefs at Fantasy Springs. Several of the best chefs in the Palm Springs area can be found in the kitchens at Fantasy Springs. Executive Chef, Freddy Rieger, loves to share his east coast charm, and his recipe secrets. You just have to ask him nicely.
  • “Who Are the Winners?” Fantasy Springs features 2,000 slots, 40 table games, the Bingo Palace and the Triple Crown Room. Big winners are made every day in the casino. Find out what players use as good luck charms. Slots and table games are also using cutting edge technology, many times without the player even noticing. Take a look at what the tech and data does.
  • “Someone in my group doesn’t gamble.” Many people would rather receive entertainment in a form other than gaming. For those not attracted by the whirr of the slots or excitement of the tables, they can take in a concert, listen to live music, “yuk it up” at the Fantasy Springs Improv Comedy Club, play golf, get a massage, enjoy a gourmet meal, relax by the pool, do some wine tasting at the 12th Floor Wine Bar & Cocktail Lounge, take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway up 8,500 feet to the top of Mt. San Jacinto, go for a hike, or just watch and in-room movie.

If you would like to pursue any of these story ideas or any others, please contact Bradley Ryan:bryan@fantasysprings.net, Public Relations Manager.

LA QUINTA, Calif. (March 7, 2016) –This March members from the Coachella Valley communities are lacing up to support the annual Walk for Kids, a non-competitive walk event that raises funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California® (RMHCSC) and its life changing programs benefiting families with critically-ill children. Bianca Rae of KESQ morning news team will serve as the mistress of ceremonies at the March 13th event at La Quinta Civic Center Park. The family-friendly event is happening across Southern California all for the same goal, to help families of critically ill and injured children. To participate in the walk, individuals and groups are encouraged to register and donate at www.walkforkids.org<http://www.walkforkids.org>/lomalinda.

In the Coachella Valley, families with children requiring serious medical treatment have often turned to the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House, a program of RMHCSC. Approximately 45 percent of the Riverside County families who stay at the Loma Linda House travel from the Coachella Valley. The Loma Linda House has served more than 20,000 families since opening in 1996 and is currently undergoing a major expansion to more than double the size of the House. The project will add an additional 33 rooms to the current 21, expand the kitchen and other common areas and is expected to be completed by September 11th, just in time for the program’s 20th anniversary.

“Over the years we’ve seen Walk for Kids evolve into a powerful, community-driven effort that supports families when they need it most,” said Mike Kovack, executive director, Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House. “Last year, nearly 23,000 participants gathered for walk events across Southern California. This year, we’re thrilled to be able to bring the fun and excitement back to the Coachella Valley for the second annual Walk for Kids.”

The Coachella Valley Walk for Kids event kicks off a series of walk events that will happen across Southern California. Registered participants will enjoy a non-competitive walk through beautiful La Quinta Civic Center Park, sponsor booths, kid’s zone activities and meet Ronald McDonald himself. Participants must register online at www.walkforkids.org/lomalinda<http://www.walkforkids.org/lomalinda>. Residents who are unable to attend the event are invited to make a donation online.

The Chapter’s Mission Partner McDonald’s is also offering walkers a fun way to support the event through its annual Shoe Sale campaign in restaurants. From March 21stApril 8th, McDonald’s customers in Southern California can purchase a “Big Red Shoe” for $1 to support Walk for Kids at participating restaurant locations. The iconic paper shoes are displayed with the donor’s name inside the restaurants. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Shoe Sales will directly benefit RMHCSC and its programs.

About Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California

For more than 35 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) has been dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and families across Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. RMHCSC helps families with critically-ill children stay together, connecting them with others facing similar challenges through its six Ronald McDonald Houses® in Bakersfield, Loma Linda, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Orange and Pasadena and two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms®. One of the few chapters to operate a cost-free, medically supervised Camp Ronald McDonald For Good Times®, RMHCSC helps children with cancer and their siblings rediscover childhood and develop the self-esteem and self-efficacy often lost as a result of the disease. The organization also provides funding through its Community Grants Board to deserving non-profits that improve the lives of children and funds four college scholarship programs that help exemplary high school students pursue the education of their dreams. February 11, 2016 – INDIO, CA – Fantasy Springs Resort Casino prides itself on being on the cutting edge of exciting table game development and throughout February, the Coachella Valley casino brings players four brand new ways to enhance their playing action and add more excitement.

The first new table game that Fantasy Springs is introducing this year has already hit the floor.  Visitors to the casino will be excited to find the new Fortune 7 Baccarat game.  Fortune 7 Baccarat is a version of Commission Free Baccarat.  The game play is identical to standard baccarat with two exceptions:  the Banker bets push if they win with a three-card total of 7, and winning Banker bets are not charged a commission.

Visitors to Fantasy Springs will also find the brand new Mississippi Stud game on the casino floor beginning on Tuesday, February 16.  Mississippi Stud is a new five-card poker game and players compete against a pay table, not against the dealer or other players.  Wins are based only on the player's final five-card hand and the skill is in deciding how much to raise, or fold, as the cards are revealed.

For more exciting table game action, Fantasy Springs has introduced the new 6 Card Bonus side bet to our current 3 Card Poker game.  This bonus side bet is based on the best 5-card poker hand that can be made from the six cards dealt to the Dealer and the Player.  Thus, each Player uses his own 3 cards and combines them with the Dealer’s three cards for an exciting combination side bet.  If players bet a buck, they can win $1,000 even if they fold!

Finally, the new Raise The Roof bonus side bet has been added to some of our existing Blackjack tables.  All Blackjack house rules apply but if the Dealer does not have a Blackjack, players will have a chance to raise up to five times their side bet that the Dealer will bust!

IT’S AN EVENING OF LATIN-FLAVORED ROCK AT FANTASY SPRINGS WITH LOS LOBOS AND LOS LONELY BOYS

January 19, 2016 – INDIO, CA – Grammy Award-winning bands Los Lobos and Los Lonely Boys are joining forces and bringing their distinctive and eclectic Latin flavor to The Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on April 1st.
Los Lobos' debut album was called Just Another Band from East L.A. but in their four decade long career, they’ve repeatedly disproven that title—Los Lobos isn’t “just another” anything. Highly recognized for their hit single "La Bamba", Los Lobos have released 19 albums, received 3 Grammy Awards and numerous nominations.  “We’re a Mexican American band, and no word describes America like immigrant. Most of us are children of immigrants, so it’s perhaps natural that the songs we create celebrate America in this way.” So says Louie Perez, the “poet laureate” and primary wordsmith of Los Lobos, when describing the songs on the band’s latest album, Gates of Gold.  Perez once called their powerhouse mix of rock, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues and traditional Spanish and Mexican music “the soundtrack of the barrio.”

Los Lonely Boys, the “Texican” rock 'n' roll trio of brothers Henry, JoJo and Ringo Garza, debuted in 2003 with the multi-chart gold single “Heaven.”  They sold millions of albums, won a Grammy, racked up reams of critical acclaim, and even opened for The Rolling Stones.  Despite the success of their latest album Revelation, “We’re still Lonely Boys,” JoJo insists, chuckling in agreement that they are also now Los Lonely Men who have truly come of age. “We’re still family, we’re still three brothers, we’re still doing what the good Lord has blessed us with, and that’s singing and playing for people who really want to listen.”

Tickets for the April 1st Los Lobos and Los Lonely Boys performance at 8pm go on sale Friday, January 22nd for $79, $59, $39 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via phone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com<http://www.FantasySpringsResort.com>.

RANDY “EL MATADOR” CABALLERO TO MAKE HIS MUCH ANTICIPATED RETURN TO THE RING ON FEBRUARY 5 AT FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO TELEVISED LIVE NATIONALLY ON BOXEO ESTELAR ON ESTRELLA TV AND LIVE STREAMED BY THE RING TV

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - DECEMBER 18, 2015

LOS ANGELES (Dec. 18, 2015) – Excited to get back in the ring, Randy “El Matador” Caballero (22-0, 13 KOs) will start 2016 off with a bang at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. on Friday, Feb. 5 when he makes his return to the ring in more than a year after undergoing surgery for an injury. Caballero will lead the jam-packed night of fighting against Ruben Garcia (15-1-1, 6 KOs) of Mexico City, Mexico in a 10-round super bantamweight bout, which will be televised live on Estrella TV’s Boxeo Estelar.

“I was devastated that I was unable to defend my championship title in Las Vegas on Nov. 21, but I’m determined to come back better than ever in 2016," said Randy “El Matador” Caballero. "Between injury and the unfortunate way my body responded before the weigh-in in Las Vegas when I was set to defend my title for the first time, I am looking forward to putting 2015 behind me and starting fresh in the New Year. Losing the title was not something I wanted to happen, and I’m motivated more now than ever before to show everyone that I am still a championship fighter in the ring.”

“Golden Boy Promotions is behind Randy Caballero 100 percent, and we are pleased that he will return to the ring on Feb. 5,” said Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “Randy had a rough year in 2015, but I know 2016 will be an opportunity for him to start fresh and remind everyone that he is a talented fighter with a bright future ahead of him in this sport.”

Caballero is excited to get the gloves laced up and get a solid win in Indio on his hometown turf on Feb. 5 with a fresh beginning after a difficult 2015. The former WBC Youth Intercontinental and NABO champion, Caballero earned a shot at a world title in April 2014 by stopping Kohei Oba in eight rounds in Kobe, Japan, and in October 2014 he defeated Stuart Hall via unanimous decision in Monte Carlo to win the vacant IBF banatamweight crown. Returning to the boxing canvas after a long absence due to a large surgery to remove a cyst on his ankle and other injuries, “El Matador” is ready to electrify the crowd with his charisma and fiery Nicaraguan spirit and prove to the fans and media that he is ready to fight back.

The tough Ruben Garcia recently suffered his first career loss against Rafael Rivera on Oct. 24 by unanimous decision but rebounded quickly with a technical knockout in the first round over Richard Voros on Dec. 5, his first time fighting in Europe. Garcia made his professional debut in November 2010 in spectacular fashion with a technical knockout in the first round. Since then, Garcia has demonstrated his ability to both go the distance and also his capability to use strength and power to break down opponents early on. On Feb. 5, Garcia will look to secure his first victory of 2016 with a win over Randy Caballero.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and are priced at $75, $65, $45 and can be purchased at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com<http://www.fantasyspringsresort.com>.

The Boxeo Estelar broadcast will air live on Estrella TV at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT. The card will also stream live on EstrellaTV.com and on YouTube via Fenomeno Studios. The Ring TV live stream will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. PT through 7:00 p.m.

December 15, 2015 – INDIO, CA – In a check presentation earlier today, the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians, who operate Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, donated $20,000 to F.I.N.D. Food Bank to help purchase a new refrigerated truck which will provide more perishable food items to families struggling with hunger.

The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians were represented by Tribal Chairman Douglas Welmas and presented the donation to Lisa Houston, President and C.E.O. of F.I.N.D. Food Bank.

The nonprofit F.I.N.D. Food Bank, founded in 1983, is the regional food bank serving eastern Riverside County, from Whitewater to Blythe, and from the high desert to the Salton Sea. FIND (Food In Need of Distribution) is dedicated to relieving hunger, the causes of hunger, and problems associated with hunger by building awareness and mobilizing resources and community to take action to end hunger. “Support from the community is critical to our mission” said Lisa Houston, FIND’s President and CEO. “That the Tribe is stepping forward with such a generous gift demonstrates their commitment to helping distribute much needed food assistance to hungry neighbors across the Coachella Valley.”

Also on hand to tell his story was Joel Gonzalez, who is on FIND’s outreach team.  He connects food-insecure individuals and families to resources that can help their households be more self-sufficient.  Joel knows what it means to be without, to make tough choices, and how quickly circumstances can change.

The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians is a federally recognized Indian tribe with approximately 1,610 acres of reservation land in the Coachella Valley. The Tribe owns several business enterprises including Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.  Goals include growing and diversifying its business ventures to increase employment in the Coachella Valley, increasing the support of community programs, continuing to pursue economic self-sufficiency and preserving and educating the public about Cabazon culture.

DECEMBER 7, 2015 – INDIO, CA – Mexican Regional music sensation Larry Hernández bares his soul in every performance and he is now set to thrill audiences at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in February.

Larry Hernández burst onto the Latin music scene with 16 Narco Corridos, a solo album he wrote almost entirely on his own and recorded in one day. Music lovers fall in love with the crooner's warm energy at his concerts and they say his readiness to bare everything during each performance is his ticket to winning over fans' hearts. Recently, Hernández released Acá Entre Nos, an album which reached No. 8 on the Top Latin Albums chart.

The Los Angeles native began his career as part of the group Los Amables del Norte, but soon went solo and released two albums: his 2002 debut, Mil Noches, and 2008's Hace Un Mes. His third album, 16 Narco Corridos, hit the top of the Latin Albums chart, and Hernández accomplished the challenging feat of having two albums in the Top 10 at the same time. Since the start of his career, Hernández' music has routinely showed up on the Billboard charts, and he has garnered various industry awards including Latin Billboard Music Awards for Regional Mexican Airplay Artist of the Year, and for Solo Regional Mexican Artist of the Year. This American-born son of Mexico clings tightly to his Latin American roots that shine through beautifully and soulfully in his music. Hernández took this firm Latin foundation and wove it into a successful career, which has led him on tours across Latin America, the rest of North America, and throughout the world.

December 1, 2015 – INDIO, CA – Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees HEART have hit the road this winter and on Friday, January 29th, 2016 at 8pm, the tour will make a much-anticipated stop at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Ann and Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band, Heart, stormed the charts in the ‘70’s with hits like “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” “Straight On,” and so many more.  Not only did the Wilson sisters lead the band, they wrote the songs and played the instruments too, making them the first women in rock to do so.  Heart continued topping the charts through the ‘80’s and ‘90’s with huge hits like “These Dreams,” “Alone,” “What About Love,” “If Looks Could Kill,” “Never,” and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters’ enormous talents as musicians, singers and songwriters.

Powerful and exciting on stage, Heart performs their amazing show to many hundreds of thousands of fans annually.

As individuals, the sisters have also achieved significant success.  Ann sang on songs that were both chart successes and motion picture themes, like “Almost Paradise” from Footloose, “Best Man in the World” from The Golden Child, and “Surrender to Me” from Tequila Sunrise, while Nancy composed and performed the scores to a half dozen motion pictures including the award winning “Jerry Maguire” and “Almost Famous.”

Along the way, music by Ann and Nancy Wilson and their band Heart sold more than 35 million albums, sold out arenas worldwide, and found their way into the soundtrack of American life through radio, motion pictures, and television.

The last decade has been filled with new accomplishments for Heart.  Nearly 35 years after their first big hit, Ann and Nancy Wilson were back in the Billboard Top 10 in 2010 with Heart’s “Red Velvet Car” album, and a Top 5 DVD (“Night at Sky Church”).  2012’s “Fanatic” continued Heart’s current chart success, spawning two hit singles (“Fanatic” and “Dear Old America”) and debuting in the Billboard Top 25.  They also released a comprehensive CD box set entitled “Strange Euphoria,” filled with rarities and previously unreleased treasures that met with acclaim from critics and fans alike.

In September 2012, Ann and Nancy released their first-ever memoire (Kicking & Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul and Rock & Roll).  The book spent several weeks on the New York Times “Best Sellers” chart and was released by HarperCollins on paperback on September 25, 2013.  In May 2015, they released a children’s book, Dog & Butterfly, based on the famous and well-beloved hit song.

Tickets for the 8PM Heart performance are on sale Friday, December 4th, 2015 for $79, $69, and $49 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone at (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com<http://www.FantasySpringsResort.com>.

Making the move from prospect to contender, Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. has been a steady performer who impresses every time he steps between the ropes. This year, the former member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic boxing team has taken his game to the next level with wins over Juan Luis Hernandez, Giovanni Delgado and Rene Alvarado, and if he is victorious on Dec. 18, the 22-year-old southpaw will claim his first title since turning pro almost three years ago.

Hailing out of Mexico City, Mexico, Hugo “Olímpico” Partida is seasoned fighter ready to add a victory to his record in his second scheduled fight of 2015. A professional since 2005, Partida has fought for the regional IBF Inter-Continental Super Bantamweight title, the WBC Continental Americans Super Bantamweight title, the WBC Youth World Featherweight Title and has retained and defended the WBC Fecarbox Super Bantamweight title.  Partida was most recently seen in the ring going up against Julian “El Camaron” Ramirez on Oct. 3 and will be looking to redeem himself when he faces Daiz Jr. on Dec. 18.
Born and raised in Managua, Nicaragua, Rene "Gemelo" Alvarado has been fighting professionally since 2008 and is a former Nicaraguan super bantamweight titleholder. Since moving up to the featherweight division in 2013, he has continued to shine despite losing a notable decision to Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. in July 2015. Coming off of a first round technical knockout victory in Nicaragua, Alvarado has his sights set on a world championship.

Blythe, CA native Andrew “Chango” Cancio made his professional debut in 2006, remaining undefeated for ten bouts before his first lost. Cancio’s power has brought him eleven of fifteen wins by way of knockout, a strength he hopes to bring into his matchup with Rene Alvarado. This matchup is Cancio’s first fight in 2015 since a unanimous decision loss to Ronny Rios. Cancio hopes to revive his career with a win and pursue his goal of becoming a featherweight world champion.

Hailing from Beijing, seven-foot heavyweight Taishan, has captured the imagination of boxing fans both in China and in his adopted home in California. After turning professional in 2014 and scoring two quick knockouts, the 26-year-old showed that he has what it takes to win over the distance, as he scored a near-shutout victory over Roy McCrary in February of 2015 and had a unanimous victory over Jamal Woods on May 9. The heavyweight is eager to continue his winning streak when he fights at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino for the fourth time on Dec. 18.

Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico heavyweight product Daniel Arambula started his career strong defeating three opponents before suffering his first loss via unanimous decision in his U.S debut. Looking to get back into the win column, Arambula is motivated to put his skills on display and redeem himself on American soil against

November 12, 2015 – INDIO, CA – Two iconic bands that have stood the test of time will display their talents on stage at the Fantasy Springs Special Events Center. On Friday, January 15th the Temptations and the Four Tops will prove why they have become cultural heroes to their millions of fans. Tickets for the 8pm Temptations and Four Tops performance go on sale Friday, November 13th for $69, $49, $29 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.

For more than forty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits, and sold-out performances throughout the world.

The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964 however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the things You Do” turned the guys into stars.

An avalanche of hits followed, many of which attained immortality, ”My Girl,” for instance, “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby;” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is only Skin Deep,” “I Wish It Would Rain, “ and the hits kept coming.

The classic lineup was Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. Beyond the fabulous singing, The Temps became known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations. The Temptations Walk became a staple of American style, flair, flash and class.

Another group that helped define the Motown sound of the 1960’s was the quartet known as the Four Tops. They have been labeled as “The Immortals” by Rolling Stone Magazine.  The Four Tops are the story four powerful voices and four powerful friendships. The founding members of the Four Tops, Levi Stubbs, Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Renaldo “Obie” Benson and Lawrence Payton, performed together for more than four decades, building their harmonies, chart-toping songs and success on the foundation of a friendship that began as teenagers.

It was in 1954, at a high school party in Detroit when the group was urged by partygoers to provide some impromptu entertainment. The synergy was obvious, immediate and strong. The quartet decided to start performing and called themselves The Four Aims (Aiming for the Top). Their popularity grew as they performed at small cubs all over Detroit honing their act while singing jazz and standards. Gaining popularity for their pure harmonies and polished performances.

Over the years their repertoire has included doo-wop, jazz, soul music, R&B, disco, adult contemporary, hard rock and show tunes. They turned out dozens of chart topping hits including, “Baby I Need Your Loving”, “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) “, “It’s the Same Old Song” and “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I Got”.

Fabian also enjoyed superstardom as a teen idol of the 1950s and 1960s. He rose to national prominence after performing several times on American Bandstand. Eleven of his songs reached the Billboard Hot 100 listing.

In 1959, Frankie Avalon hit it big with two smash songs on the Billboard Hot 100 - "Venus" and "Why.” Avalon teamed frequently with Annette Funicello to star in a number of popular beach comedy movies during the 1960s. The wholesome and romantic coupling of "Frankie and Annette" in summer movies such as Beach Party and Beach Blanket Bingo became iconic figures in American films during that era. He also starred in several dramatic movies such as The Alamo and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

Making the move from prospect to contender, Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. has been a steady performer who impresses every time he steps between the ropes. This year, the former member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic boxing team has taken his game to the next level with wins over Juan Luis Hernandez, Giovanni Delgado and Rene Alvarado, and with another victory on October 23, the 22-year-old southpaw will be knocking on the door of the top ten of the featherweight division.

A seasoned fighter of Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, Ruben “Canelito” Tamayo will be looking to impress in his second fight of 2015.  The 26 year-old has had a chance to fight some of the best in the division, including a run in with Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar for the interim WBA Featherweight World Title and former world title Jesus “Estrella” Ruiz. Now, the featherweight fighter will be looking to add a victory to his resume and proving that he is still in the title game when he faces Joseph Diaz Jr. on Oct. 23.

A stellar amateur who won the 2009 United States Championship and earned a Silver medal in the 2009 World Championships, East LA's Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez turned professional in 2010 and he has been on a mission ever since then. Owner of 12 knockouts in three rounds or fewer, Gomez can also box when he wants to, as shown in his near-shutout victory over longtime contender Vernon Paris in his most recent bout in July of 2014.

Hard-hitting Tijuana native Jorge “Pantera” Silva went through a rough spell after a 17-1-1 start to his professional career, as he battled the likes of Joshua Clottey, Alfredo Angulo, Pablo Cesar Cano and Alan Sanchez. But the 23-year-old got back to his winning ways in July with a fifth-round technical knockout of Juan Carlos Moreno, and he's looking forward to his showdown with Gomez and introducing the “Pitbull” to the loss column for the first time.

24-year-old welterweight prospect, KeAndre Gibson, who now makes his home in Las Vegas, has become quite popular in Texas, where he won impressive victories over John Nater and Jose Hernandez. In January, Gibson took on Nicaragua's Nelson Lara winning the fight via unanimous decision. In his second fight of 2015, Gibson faced Jorge Ramos in an eight round fight winning the bout via unanimous decision in the undercard of Canelo-Kirkland on May 9.

Looking to pin a loss on Gibson’s perfect professional record is 30-year-old Freddy “Duke” Lopez, a native of Chihuahua, Mexico who now makes his home in Phoenix. Owner of seven knockouts among his 10 pro wins, Lopez has won two of his last three, with his last three victories ending before the final bell.

A boxer since the age of 12, 19-year-old Alberto Fundora won the Junior Olympic and National PAL titles as heavyweight, but as a pro, the talented Coachella product has found a home at super middleweight, where he will risk his unbeaten record against fellow unbeaten Richard Romero of Commerce.

Las Vegas native Marco Magdaleno comes from a fighting family that includes brothers Diego and Jessie, and after a stellar amateur career, the hard-working southpaw from Indio will make his professional debut against another newcomer to the game, Lancaster’s Phillip Bounds.

A stablemate of UFC champion Ronda Rousey, Glendale’s Melsik Baghdasaryan has competed in both MMA and boxing, but he’ll have his boxing gloves on when October 23 comes around, as the 23-year-old seeks his third victory against Los Angeles’ Diego Padilla.

September  14, 2015 – INDIO, CA – In a check presentation earlier today, the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians, who operate, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, donated $40,000 to the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House.

The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians represented by Alexis Nichols, Member at Large, presented the donation to Mike Kovack, Executive Director of the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House and had this to say on behalf of the tribe. “The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians are proud to offer this gift to be used for the expansion project of the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House. They provide a home away from home for several of the Coachella’s Valley’s families in need and this donation will help them continue to serve our community.”  Coachella Valley families make up 43% of the Loma Linda House’s guests annually  and is the highest served community within the temporary housing program - as Palm Springs area families would need to travel over an hour and a half for emergency care at the children's hospital's facilities.

The Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House is working to raise the final $3.3 million of its $12 million capital campaign to more than double its size in an effort to support more families with critically-ill children. In 2013, the House referred more than 800 families to hotels because it was at capacity. Plans to expand include adding 33 rooms, increasing the total number from 21 to 54.  The new guest rooms will be located in two three-story towers built directly east and west of the existing house. Executive Director Mike Kovack said in addition to more rooms, the expansion will include improvements to its kitchen and dining areas, as well as common areas and office space.

The Loma Linda Ronald McDonald Housekeeps families close to their critically ill child while they receive life-saving medical treatment. According to recent studies families staying at a Ronald McDonald House reported a more positive overall hospital experience and improved coping abilities because they were able to stay together “Ronald McDonald House Charities strives for bringing people together to find solutions and by strengthening families during difficult times,” said Jay Brand, president of the board of trustees of the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House.  ”Programs like The Ronald McDonald House   make a positive impact upon children and families around the world by enabling family centered care.”

September 2, 2015 – INDIO, Calif. – Powerful, loud and fierce, Godsmack has garnered multiple Grammy nominations and are Billboard Award winners. They have released six studio albums, one EP (The Other Side), four DVDs, one compilation album (Good Times, Bad Times... Ten Years of Godsmack), and one live album (Live and Inspired). The band has had three consecutive number-one albums (Faceless, IV, and The Oracle) on the Billboard 200. Godsmack also has 20 top ten rock radio hits, including 15 songs in the top five, which is a record number of top ten singles by a rock artist.  Saturday, November 13th they bring their thunderous live show to the Special Events Center Stage at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Tickets for the 8PM Godsmack performance are on sale for $69, $59 and $39 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.

In February of 1995, after being behind the drums for more than 23 years, Sully Erna decided to start a new band. It was only a matter of time before he realized he needed to take charge and step out from behind the kit to front the band himself.  One year and a couple of member changes later Godsmack was born. Sully Erna, Robbie Merrill and Tony Rombola hit the studio and recorded their first CD titled All Wound Up. They did this over one weekend for a measly twenty six-hundred dollars. Over the next two years, the band played throughout the Boston scene with drummer Joe Darco and began earning a strong reputation of being a great live band. The noise they were making in the New England area created a snowball effect like no other.

Godsmack began drawing in bigger and bigger audiences to their live shows. Their CD began circulating through the streets of Boston and eventually landed in the hands of a DJ for WAAF, a Boston radio station. WAAF put "Keep Away" into heavy rotation and it quickly soared to the #1 spot at the station. Newbury Comics, a New England record store chain, agreed to sell the CD on consignment and the grind continued.  Shortly after the success of "Keep Away" Godsmack went back into the studio and recorded a single titled "Whatever", which became the new local favorite on WAAF. It took off in the blink of an eye and the race was on.

As a result of the single doing so well, Godsmack's CD began selling hundreds of copies per week, and soon escalated to more than one thousand copies per week, becoming the second best selling CD in that chain of stores. Godsmack's live shows began selling out throughout New England, which in return created more requests for their music on the local radio stations and more CD sales. On and on it went until the summer of 1998 when Republic/Universal stepped up and signed the band to their label.
Joe Darco was soon replaced by Tommy Stewart, All Wound Up was re-mastered and the artwork was changed. The finished self-titled debut CD Godsmack hit the shelves six weeks later.
Godsmack hit the road on their first headlining tour, The Voodoo Tour. The bands strong live performances, coupled with high record sales and growing number of fans, landed them time slots on Ozzfest 1999 and 2000, a European tour with Black Sabbath and an appearance at Woodstock 1999.

In 2000, Godsmack released their second CD, Awake. This album's title track dominated rock radio and broke chart records throughout 2000 and 2001. The CD's instrumental track "Vampires" earned the band its first Grammy nomination.
Godsmack toured Awake selling out arenas and outdoor venues nationwide. They gave their fans their moneys worth with a gothic stage, video and pyro, lots of pyro!  In 2002, Sully was asked to A&R the soundtrack for the motion picture The Scorpion King, the third installment in the Mummy saga. The song Godsmack wrote and performed lived up to its title: "I Stand Alone" became the #1 single at Rock Radio and the most played Active Rock song in 2002 for 14 weeks straight.

After spending over four years on the road the band decided to take a break before heading back into the studio. It was during this break that Shannon Larkin, a friend of Sully's for 15 years, formerly of Wrathchild America, AMEN and Ugly Kid Joe, was asked to replace Tommy Stewart.

The new line up headed to Miami to write and record the bands third CD. Faceless was released in April of 2003 and became the #1 selling record in America of that week. Faceless also brought another tour that ran 23 months strong including two more Grammy nominations for "I Stand Alone" and an 11 month international arena tour with the kings of metal, Metallica!!
In March of 2004, Godsmack released their first acoustic EP, The Other Side which included new versions of previous hits like "Keep Away", "Re-Align" and a haunting new version of the Navy's recruit song, "Awake"!  This also spawned a side tour of its own. Godsmack filled in breaks from the big stage with Metallica with intimate storytelling acoustic shows giving their fans the explanation behind the title, The Other Side.

With rich velvet curtains, stone gargoyles and strings of Christmas lights illuminating theaters around the country, fans had a whole new experience of the true talents of this unique foursome. Stripped down to nothing, Godsmack continued to deliver one of the best acoustic performances of our time.
Godsmack ended 2004, and two CD cycles, with a nostalgic New Year's Eve performance at the Hard Rock Café, in Orlando, Fl. During this amazing three hour performance, Godsmack rolled through just about every song in their catalog as well as a few well known cover songs. The band released Godsmack IV on April 25, 2006 and their latest album, The Oracle, hit the streets on May 4, 2010.  In July, the band revealed dates for an upcoming North American fall headline tour.  Fans in the Coachella Valley will get to see them live on Saturday, November 13th.

August 24, 2015 – INDIO, CALIF. – The first incarnation of the group Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán began in 1898 as a quartet, and over the decades (and into the 21st century) the ensemble would become one of the most important in Mexican music history.  Yolanda Lopez Jaen, Better known as Yolanda Del Rio was born in Pachuca Hidalgo, Mexico. At age 15 she recorded her first L.P. "Nobody's Daughter" Which sold over a million copies in just six months.  She has toured countries in North, Central and South America and Europe.  On Friday, December 4th Yolanda Del Rio, along with Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan will perform live on stage in the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

The origins of the mariachi orchestra date back to the Spanish-derived string groups of the early 19th century in the Mexican state of Jalisco, and now the mariachi orchestra serves as the basis of the regional Mexican son jaliciense form. By the early 20th century, mariachi groups had established their ensemble collection of violins, guitars (and guitar relatives) along with trumpets and the harp, were regarded as semiprofessional groups in and around Jalisco.

Founded in 1898, Mariachi Vargas emerged as one of the most celebrated mariachi groups, and acquired national success upon its presentation at the inaugural celebration of President Lázaro Cárdenas in 1934. Musical director Rubén Fuentes (who joined the group in 1944) would go on to arrange music for many of Mexico's celebrated singers and composers such as Lola Beltrán, Pedro Infante and José Alfredo Jiménez. The band's seminal work throughout the coming decades set the tone for many mariachi ensembles by insisting that all of the group's musicians know how to read music, resulting in a more refined and trained ensemble. Credited with modernizing the genre, Mariachi Vargas' meticulously crafted arrangements helped to propel the national pride for what would become Mexico's classical sound.

Yolanda del Rio is a simple woman who has been characterized by impressing her countless followers with a great feeling at each of her performances. Today one of the biggest and most beloved singers of the ranchero genre, Yolanda Del Rio is most certainly, La Gran Señora De Mexico.

Tickets for the 8PM Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan with special guest Yolanda Del Rio performance go on sale Friday, September 4th for $59, $39 and $29 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.
