| Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is located in between the beautiful Santa Rosa and Chocolate mountain ranges in the Palm Springs Valley. The area boasts wonderful stories of celebrities, pioneers and now, entrepreneurs. Many people ask what there is to do around Palm Springs. One quickly discovers it's difficult to do everything in the area in just a few days. Whether visitors come to Fantasy Springs for gaming, golf or to enjoy the surrounding area, it offers something for everyone.
Ideas you may want to consider if your assignment brings you to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and the Palm Springs, CA area.
- "Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is a short drive from Palm Springs. What is there to do if someone is staying there?” Besides gaming, playing golf, dining, taking in A-list entertainment, guests can get an in-room or cabana massage, visit the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, go for an ATV tour through the desert, visit the nearby famed Joshua Tree National Park, go shopping at the Rodeo Drive of Palm Springs – El Paseo and much more.
- “Palm Springs has often been known as the playground of Hollywood celebrities. Do Hollywood-types frequent your resort?” Do they ever! Celebrities can be spotted often at Fantasy Springs and at Eagle Falls Golf Course. The resort hosts several high profile and charity tournaments throughout the year that feature celebrity golfers. The hotel and restaurants have also been frequented by Playboy Playmates, musicians and more.
- “Plan a Nearby Southern California Getaway.” The price of gas still fluctuates and with the economy still uncertain, many people are looking for a less-expensive alternative to a far-away destination resort. Fantasy Springs Resort Casino has it all in terms of the ultimate destination resort. Palm Springs, CA boasts an average 354 days of sunshine and Fantasy Springs features an inviting oversized pool and sundeck surrounded by palm trees. Guests can have drinks and lunch served to them as they bask in the warm desert rays. Room rates are affordable at Fantasy Springs and visitors get to skip the long drive to Las Vegas and the gas money it takes to get there.
- Award-winning chefs at Fantasy Springs. Several of the best chefs in the Palm Springs area can be found in the kitchens at Fantasy Springs. Executive Chef, Freddy Rieger, loves to share his east coast charm, and his recipe secrets. You just have to ask him nicely.
- “Who Are the Winners?” Fantasy Springs features 2,000 slots, 40 table games, the Bingo Palace and the Triple Crown Room. Big winners are made every day in the casino. Find out what players use as good luck charms. Slots and table games are also using cutting edge technology, many times without the player even noticing. Take a look at what the tech and data does.
- “Someone in my group doesn’t gamble.” Many people would rather receive entertainment in a form other than gaming. For those not attracted by the whirr of the slots or excitement of the tables, they can take in a concert, listen to live music, “yuk it up” at the Fantasy Springs Improv Comedy Club, play golf, get a massage, enjoy a gourmet meal, relax by the pool, do some wine tasting at the 12th Floor Wine Bar & Cocktail Lounge, take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway up 8,500 feet to the top of Mt. San Jacinto, go for a hike, or just watch and in-room movie.
If you would like to pursue any of these story ideas or any others, please contact Ciara Green:ccoyle@fantasysprings.net, Public Relations Manager.

|
|
May 17, 2013 – INDIO, CA – Rumbling onto the casino floor at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is one of the biggest, most exciting games ever delivered by the gaming industry: NASCAR. Click here to see the trailer This new title from Bally Technologies takes everything racing fans love about the sport and puts it into a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.
On Wednesday, May 29th casino guests are invited to hit the raceway at Fantasy Springs and try out the new slots to possibly win cash and prizes. The special NASCAR slot introduction party goes from 3pm-6pm on the casino floor next to Bingo.
If you’re a fan of NASCAR, you know it’s all about the drivers. This new slot won’t disappoint. The line-up is a who’s-who of current racing royalty – Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick. Not only can you theme the slot based on your favorite driver, but you’ll also enjoy audio and video featuring these stars of the oval. The game includes a stunning 32-inch vertical touch-screen display and game-synchronized side lighting. Rounding out the cockpit of the new NASCAR slot is the Pro Surround Chair, delivering awesome 5.1 surround-sound audio and comfort. From the roar of the engines to the cheering of the crowd, you will have no doubt you’re in the driver’s seat.
Fantasy Springs Slot Director, Dave Polizzi says, “Gaming development is consistently progressing and each new program that comes available raises the bar on what our players expect and want in a gaming environment. Slots are available in every casino; having the right ones, sets you apart.”
The NASCAR video slots let you get behind the wheel at the world-famous Daytona International Speedway as you race against other drivers and earn credits along the way in the U-Race Bonus. You’ll start at the back of the pack as your driver of choice in an exhilarating real-time race, and choose the direction your driver will move. You’ll get to choose five times and can opt to go for a pass down low on the apron, try a risky pass on the high side, or charge straight ahead. Passing is realistically difficult, but also rewarding. After each maneuver you’ll be awarded credits and the higher you place when the checkered flag waves, the more bonus credits you’ll win. If that wasn’t enough, the NASCAR video slot also offers the chance at a huge progressive award.
Polizzi says, “Our customers ask for interactive and entertaining slots at Fantasy Springs and we introduce them. By continuing to be customer focused, we stay ahead of offering the best products possible.”

BLUES SINGING, ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE, GREGG ALLMAN
BRINGS HIS TOUR TO FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
April 22, 2013 – INDIO, CA – As a founding member of the one and only Allman Brothers Band and in his own storied solo career, a gifted natural interpreter of the blues, Gregg Allman’s soulful and distinctive voice is one of the defining sounds in the history of American music. On Saturday, May 25th Allman will put his talents on display at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
Allman started out performing as a teenager. He had several groups with his older brother Duane before the pair helped create the Allman Brothers Band in 1969. Known for their bluesy, improvisational style, the Allman Brothers Band hit it big in the early 1970s. They helped to break new ground in rock music, spearheading the 1970s Southern rock sound by drawing heavily from both country and blues influences. In addition to his work with the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg has also enjoyed some success as a solo artist. In 1986, he made the charts with "I'm No Angel".
His most recent album, Low Country Blues was released in 2011 and marks the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s seventh solo recording and the first in more than 13 years. Produced by T Bone Burnett, the album finds Allman putting his own stamp on songs by some of the blues giants whose work has long informed his own, from Muddy Waters and BB King to Buddy Guy and Magic Sam. Named for the coastal Georgia region Allman calls home, Low Country Blues stands as a high water mark in an already remarkable body of work, rich with passion, verve, and the unerring confidence of a true survivor.
Last year Allman and the rest of the Allman Brothers Band were honored with a special Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award. He also decided to share his struggles and triumphs with others in his memoir, My Cross to Bear. "When I got out of high school, I thought, 'I'll take a year or two off and play the clubs, get this
out of my system, and then go to med school,'" he explained in a statement. "More than 40 years later, I figure it's finally time to write about this crazy journey that's taken me around the world and back."
Tickets for the 8PM Gregg Allman performance go on sale Friday, April 26th for $69, $49, $29, at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.

CHARITY GOLF EVENT HELPS FAMILIES AFFORD
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FOR THEIR CHILDREN
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
April 19, 2013 - INDIO, CA – From soccer to piano lessons, to ballet or art class, there are so many extracurricular options for children here in the valley. But for many families the options don't matter because they can't afford all the extras that go along with those activities like cleats, music books, ballet shoes and art supplies. That's why Rosie Welmas started Rosie's Kids, a nonprofit organization that helps families afford to enroll their children in the activities they love.
On Monday, May 20th Eagle Falls Golf Course will host the 3rd annual Rosie's Kids charity golf tournament in order to raise money for the non-profit cause. Entry is $75 per golfer and includes 18-holes of championship golf, lunch, cart with GPS, use of the driving range and practice green, and an ice-filled cooler with water. To sign up or for more information, call (760) 485-4483 or email Rosie Welmas at rndwelmas@aol.com. Rosie Welmas, founder of Rosie's Kids, says the organization was started because of the need she saw first hand while coaching a group of children's cheerleading squads and the memory of a third grade teacher who helped her family afford extracurricular activities. The organization helps offset the high cost of supplies and helps children to become well-rounded individuals.
Eagle Falls Golf Course is part of Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. The par 72 course is 6,715 yards and was voted a best new course by Golfweek magazine. The resort features a 250-room and suite luxury hotel, seven restaurants, rooftop wine bar, world class casino with 2,000 slots and 40 table games, bowling center, nightclub and A-list entertainment nearly every weekend. |
|
April 15, 2013 – INDIO, CA – The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians once again hosted the Annual Drive Against Hunger Golf tournament which helps to raise money to feed those in need here in the Coachella Valley. On Friday, April 12th Eagle Falls Golf Course in Indio became the center of a community wide effort to support local charities which provide meals for thousands of people throughout the year.
This year the golf tournament raised $20,000 which will be shared between Martha’s Village and Kitchen, Well in the Desert and FIND food bank. The money will once again be used to supplement food distribution programs. Martha’s Village and Kitchen serves 225-thousand meals a year, three meals a day to residents and one meal to the public. Well in the Desert serves nearly 45-thousand meals, many to seniors and children and FIND Food Bank distributes food through partnering agencies to 80-thousand individuals monthly.
The Drive Against Hunger golf fundraiser was spearheaded by a group of volunteers from Sun City, Shadow Hills who then asked the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians to help make the event a reality. Cabazon Band Tribal Chairman David Roosevelt says, “The tournament has great meaning as it involves the collaboration of tribal government, tribal business and community support. Individuals such as Sue Henricksen, Gary and Julie Kelly, and the residents of the Sun City Shadow Hills community, are the strength behind these tournaments and they are essential in keeping the Drive Against Hunger at Eagle Falls a continuing event. We look forward to participating together to do our part against the growing wave of food insecurity.”
Eagle Falls Golf Course is part of Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, located just outside of Palm Springs, CA. HEARTBREAKER TOUR, WITH SPECIAL GUEST JASON BONHAM'S LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE
IS HEADED TO FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
April 8, 2013 – INDIO, CA – Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, HEART, will take their critically acclaimed live show on the road this summer with very special guest JASON BONHAM’S LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE. On Saturday, August 24th the tour will make a much anticipated stop at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
Ann and Nancy Wilson first met Jason Bonham, son of famed Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham, when they performed “Stairway to Heaven” together at the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Led Zeppelin in December 2012. Over 6 million fans have watched the performance online and purchased the track on ITunes. Now, in addition to a full set of Heart classic hits including “Crazy on You,” “Barracuda,” “Alone,” “These Dreams,” “What About Love,” and many more, fans can experience this historical pairing live when Heart and Bonham close each show with a special thirty-minute finale tribute to Led Zeppelin.
Ann Wilson promises fans an incredibly special event. “Nancy and I and the rest of Heart are thrilled to be playing with Jason and his band this summer. Awesome rock n roll music every night...miracles apt to happen any old time." Nancy adds, “It's not a tribute as we have the blessings of the gods themselves.”
Jason adds, "What a great night it was for us at the Kennedy Center awards, and now to be able to do it again on the road with Ann and Nancy is such an honor for me. I am really looking forward to taking my Led Zep Experience show out this summer with Heart and to join them in a Zep-a-thon closing the show as well. Just fantastic!”
Ann Wilson and her younger sister, Nancy Wilson, first showed the world that women can rock when their band Heart stormed the charts in the '70s with hits like "Crazy on You," "Magic Man," "Barracuda," "Straight On," "Even It Up," "Kick It Out" and many more. Not only did the Wilson sisters lead the band, they wrote the songs and played the instruments, making them the first women in rock to do so. Heart continued topping the charts through the '80s and into the '90s with huge hits like "These Dreams," "Alone," "Never," and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters' enormous talents as both musicians and singers. Across four decades and 14 studio albums, Heart has sold more than 35 million records, had 21 top 40 hits, sold out arenas worldwide, and profoundly influenced the sound and direction of American rock music while inspiring women (and guys too!) around the world to rock out in bands of their own.
In 2010, Heart released its first album in a dozen years. Red Velvet Car received both critical and commercial acclaim, debuting in the Top 10 in Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart. In 2012, Ann and Nancy released a memoir, “Kicking & Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul and Rock & Roll,” which became an immediate New York Times best seller. They also released a definitive box set, “Strange Euphoria,” a carefully considered anthology of biggest hits and best-loved songs set alongside deep catalog treasures, rarities, demos and live performances, on three compact discs and one DVD in a deluxe box. In addition, they released a new album, “Fanatic,” which features three hit singles, the title track “Fanatic,” “Walking Good” featuring Sarah McLachlan, and “Dear Old America.” The Wilson Sisters were also awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On December 11, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the induction of Heart. The induction ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on April 18, 2013 and broadcast on HBO on May 18, 2013.

IT'S AN EVENING OF MUSICAL BROTHERHOOD
AT FANTASY SPRINGS WITH LOS LOBOS, LOS LONELY BOYS AND ALEJANDRO ESCOVEDO
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
April 1, 2013 – INDIO, CA – Grammy Award-winning bands Los Lobos and Los Lonely Boys will join forces with Alejandro Escovedo to bring their eclectic musical flavor to Fantasy Springs. On Saturday, August 10th the musicians will join forces and showcase their distinctive Latin sounds.
Los Lobos' debut album was called Just Another Band from East L.A., but in their nearly four decade long career, they’ve repeatedly disproven that title—Los Lobos isn’t “just another” anything. Highly recognized for their hit single "La Bamba", Los Lobos have released 19 albums, received 3 Grammy Awards and numerous nominations. In 2012 the group celebrated the 20th anniversary of their landmark album, Kiko, with a re-release of the album including bonus tracks, a live DVD and the original album. Next year Los Lobos will celebrate 40 years together, a rare example of longevity in a volatile music world that stresses style over substance.
Los Lonely Boys, the Texican rock'n'roll trio of brothers Henry, JoJo and Ringo Garza, have achieved multi-platinum album sales, a Grammy Award for their monster hit "Heaven," and widespread acclaim. Touring behind their most recent release Rockpango, they were named by Billboard as one of the top Adult Contemporary artists of all time.
A prolific and influential musician, Alejandro Escovedo surfaced as a guitarist for The Nuns on San Francisco's no-holds-barred punk scene centered around the Mabuhay Gardens in North Beach; in the band Rank & File he helped unite the disparate worlds of punk and country in the 1980s; and after he moved back to Austin, the True Believers combined all manner of Americana music in a harbinger of what was to come in Alejandro's solo career which began in 1992 with the album Gravity. His latest album, the critically acclaimed Big Station, was released in June 2012.
Tickets for the 8PM Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys and Alejandro Escovedo performance are on sale for $79, $59, $39 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.

GET UP ON YOUR FEET AND GET READY TO DANCE,
FANTASY SPRINGS ANNOUNCES KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND ALONG WITH VILLAGE PEOPLE
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
March 21, 2013 – INDIO, CA – Get ready for a summer concert that will feature two of the most recognizable and iconic bands ever. On Saturday, July 6th you will have a chance to see both KC and the Sunshine Band and Village People perform during one concert inside the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
KC and the Sunshine Band are as wildly popular today as they were when they first danced into the music scene 40 years ago. Harry Wayne Casey, KC for short, developed a unique fusion of R&B and funk with a hint of Latin percussion groove creating an impressive string of hits like Get Down Tonight, That’s the Way (I Like It) and Shake Your Booty. The group has 9 Grammy nominations, three Grammy Awards, an American Music Award and has sold more than 100 million records.
KC and The Sunshine Band was one of the most progressive bands in the 70’s and is credited with changing the sound of modern pop music. They became the first act to score four #1 pop singles in one 12-month period since the Beatles in 1964. Three of those singles crossed over to become #1 R&B, as well. Their songs have stood the test of time and you can ask any one of the thousands of fans who spend the entire concert on their feet, dancing and shaking their booty. You can count on hearing their music on the radio, at a nightclub, at the movies, in a sports arena or at one of the 100-plus concerts KC and the Sunshine Band plays every year. It is always fun and truly makes all who hear it happy enough to dance!
On July 6th, the same day as the Fantasy Springs concert, the Palm Springs Walk of Stars will honor Harry Wayne Casey of KC & The Sunshine Band with a star dedication ceremony.
Beginning their 36th year as the “kings of disco”, the one-of-a-kind Village People is synonymous with dance music. These six talented men combine energetic choreography with outrageous fun and lots of bumping and grinding, singing and dancing, and provide great entertainment for all!
Selling more than 100 million recordings, Village People were an instant phenomenon in the ‘70s and ‘80s with hits San Francisco/In Hollywood, Macho Man, YMCA, In the Navy, Go West and more. The group has won many worldwide awards including the American Music Award-Favorite Musical Group 1979, AGVA's Georgie Award, West Germany's Gold Lion Award for music excellence and Brazil's 1981 Award for Best Act. In September 2008, Village People received a “Star” on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – between Betty Grable and Liberace!
Village People are Ray Simpson (Cop & lead singer), Alexander Briley (G.I./Military), Felipe Rose (Native American Indian), David Hodo (Construction Worker), Jeff Olson (Cowboy) and Eric Anzalone (Biker).
Tickets for the 8PM KC and the Sunshine Band and Village People performance are on sale March 22nd for $69, $49, $39 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.

THE DOOBIE BROTHERS BRING THEIR CLASSIC SOUND BACK TO FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
March 19, 2013 – INDIO, CA – As one of the most popular California pop/rock bands of the '70s, the Doobie Brothers evolved from a mellow, boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop band by the end of the decade. Along the way, the group racked up a string of gold and platinum albums in the U.S. On Saturday, June 15th the Doobie Brothers will return to the stage at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and play the tunes that helped them sell more than 40 million albums worldwide.
Aside from a few years of inactivity in the mid-eighties, the Doobie Brothers have continued to perform, create and record for over 21 consecutive years. Their most recent album, World Gone Crazy was released in 2010. It has been described as an analogy for the Doobie Brothers as a whole and another chapter in one of the greatest American music stories. With founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons, and 30 year-plus veterans John McFee and the late Michael Hossack, the Doobies have perfectly honored the band’s legacy with an offering that grows in unexpected new directions.
The songs on World Gone Crazy all feature Johnston and Simmons as writers and lead vocalists. Adding dimension to the project, in some cases there were co-writers involved, as well as some notable contributions or “guest appearances” by other vocalists, Doobie Brothers Alumni, Michael McDonald and country music legend Willie Nelson. And if fans have any understanding of what to expect from the Doobie Brothers, it’s probably the unexpected. “In a certain sense, it’s vintage Doobie Brothers,” Simmons says.
Come hear the melding of Doobie Brother’s music past and present and celebrate the classic all-American rock band that has stood the test of time. Tickets for the 8PM Doobie Brothers performance go on sale Friday, March 22nd for $69, $49, $39 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com. |

|
LOS ANGELES, March 8 - The intriguing March 8 edition of ShoBox: The New Generation at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. featuring the junior middleweight showdown between unbeaten Hugo Centeno Jr. (17-0, 9 KO’s) and KeAndrae Leatherwood (12-1-1, 8 KO’s) and the junior lightweight match pitting Puerto Rican power puncher Braulio Santos (9-0, 8 KO’s) against Los Angeles’ Kevin Hoskins (7-1, 5 KO’s) will be preceded by a full slate of undercard action that features rising stars including undefeated lightweight prospect Jamie Kavanagh, 2012 United States Olympian Dominic Breazeale and local heavyweight favorite Gerald Washington.
The event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. PT with the first bell sounding at 5:15 p.m. PT. The ShoBox: The New Generation broadcast airs live on SHOWTIME® at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
Tickets, priced at $25, $35 and $45, are available at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.
Dublin-born Jamie “The Nuisance” Kavanagh (12-0-1, 5 KO’s) has become a popular figure on the Southern California fight scene since relocating to the United States and he’s looking forward to his first appearance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Fresh off of an exciting victory over fellow prospect Ramon Valadez last November, the 22-year-old Irishman who now makes his home in Hollywood will meet the always tough Los Angeles product Sal Garcia (14-6-2, 7 KO’s) who is hoping to capture an upset victory.
The heavyweight bout between 2012 United States Olympian Dominic Breazeale (3-0, 3 KO’s) and Montgomery, Alabama’s Ronny Hale (2-5, 2 KO’s) is scheduled for four rounds, but Alhambra’s Breazeale has made short work of all his pro opponents thus far, so don’t blink.
Former USC defensive end Gerald Washington (6-0, 4 KO’s) has been impressive in his move from the gridiron to the ring, with half of his wins coming by way of first round knockout. On Friday, the 30-year-old will face the toughest test of his young career in the form of Jacksonville, Florida’s Curtis Harper (7-1, 6 KO’s), who has won seven straight, with four first round finishes of his own.
In a four round bantamweight bout, Indio’s own Jorge Porras (0-1) meets Riverside’s Fernando Fuentes (0-1) and in a four round featherweight fight, Los Angeles’ Manny Robles Jr. (3-0, 2 KO’s) looks to go 4-0 as a pro when he takes on San Bernardino’s Juan Sandoval (7-12-1, 4 KO’s).

UNBEATEN JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT HUGO CENTENO JR.
HAS CAUGHT THE EYE OF WORLD CHAMPIONS PETER QUILLIN
AND PAULIE MALIGNAGGI AS ONE TO WATCH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - MARCH 6, 2013
|

|
|
|
NEW YORK (March 6, 2013) – Promising undefeated junior middleweight Hugo “The Boss” Centeno Jr. (17-0, 9 KOs), of Oxnard, Calif., will make his 10-round debut when he meets KeAndrae “Lightning” Leatherwood (17-2, 10 KO’s), of Tuscaloosa, Ala., in the main event this Friday, March 8, on ShoBox: The New Generation live on SHOWTIME® (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast) from Fantasy Springs Casino Resort in Indio, Calif.
In the co-feature, promising Puerto Rican, Braulio “Unstoppable” Santos (9-0, 8 KO’s), of Carolina, P.R., puts his unbeaten record on the line against Kevin Hoskins (7-1, 5 KO’s), of Los Angeles, in an eight-round junior lightweight bout.
The event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. PT with the first bell sounding at 5:15 p.m. PT. Tickets, priced at $25, $35 and $45, are available at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.
The 6-foot-1½-inch, 22-year-old Centeno, a former amateur standout, will be making his ShoBox and 2013 debut. He has shown steady improvement since turning pro in March 2009 and has impressed not only fans and media but also two current world titleholders he’s sparred with, WBA Welterweight Champion Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi and WBO Middleweight Champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin.
Said Malignaggi, who utilized Centeno as a sparring partner about a year and a half ago: “We worked on a few occasions and I actually thought a lot of the kid. He was intelligent with a good head on his shoulders, picked his shots well, possessed good focus in the ring, transitioned well from offense to defense and back and his balance was excellent.
“I’ll be greatly surprised if he isn’t a world champion some day, and I don’t say that about a lot of guys.”
“I was very fortunate to have him as a sparring partner,” said Quillin, who’s sparred upwards of 100 rounds with Centeno. “He’s definitely got it. The ability is there. He does a lot of things well. He has good range on his punches and he knows how to put them together. He likes to turn it up and knows how to do it. He’s been boxing a long time and has a lot of experience.
“He may not be a natural, but he makes it look easy. He did great with the kind of work I wanted in sparring and he always brought out the best in me. Some guys spar for a week and leave, but I always noticed something different about him. If he stays focused and hungry, the sky’s the limit.”
One of the latest rising stars to hail from Oxnard, the ambidextrous Centeno registered six consecutive knockouts at the outset of his career, then won six fights in a row by decision. In his last fight, he scored a seventh-round technical knockout win over Allen Conyers on the Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina undercard on Dec. 15, 2012 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Centeno scored a knockdown in the first and Conyers did not come out for the seventh.
After fighting twice in 2009 and three times in 2010, the lanky Centeno fought six times in both 2011 and 2012, but he will enter the ring Friday after having nearly three months of rest.
“Actually, I had my longest break for the holidays,” he said. “I took off about two weeks, then got back in the gym. I started the New Year sparring with Peter Quillin, helping him get ready for his next fight, but the fight was postponed. Peter’s hired me to help him for his last three fights because I can fight as a southpaw and stay as a southpaw and I move pretty well.’’
Regarding his upcoming assignment, Centeno, who’s never been dropped as a pro or amateur, says, “I’m always ready to face anything in the ring. I know how to fight as a southpaw, I know how to fight as a righty and I know how to fight on the inside, but the key is the jab because I’m such a lanky fighter.
“They say Leatherwood has quick hands, but my Dad watched a couple of tapes and said he’s a little slower than most 154’s. He fights more at 160 and 168. He'll fluctuate up and down. He waits a little and tries to get off a strong one-two. He waits for his chance to land that big overhand right, so as long as I box, I should be great, but I don't underestimate anyone. I train like I'm fighting for a world title. I'll be ready.”
Centeno is trained by his father, Hugo Sr. In boxing, fathers working with their sons hasn’t always been a ticket to success, but the Russell’s (unbeaten featherweight Gary Jr. and Gary Sr.), and Garcia’s (Danny and Angel) are making it work and, of course, Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be reunited with Floyd Sr. for his fight against Robert Guerrero, who is trained by his father, Ruben, on Saturday, May 4, on SHOWTIME PPV from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
“My Dad’s a full-time coach,” Hugo Jr. said. “He was an amateur boxer and always dreamed of going pro, but he got into a motorcycle accident. I used to watch fights on television with my dad and his brothers and I just loved it. My Dad taught me a little bit about it and I just loved the adrenaline rush that you’d get (from watching). When I turned seven, I told him, ‘Take me to the gym,’ and he took me and I’ve never stopped since. I love it. He started coaching when he started coaching me and he stuck to it.”
Leatherwood, an aggressive-minded 5-foot-10-inch, 24-year-old who resides in Atlanta, is also making his ShoBox and 2013 debut. He went 3-0-1 in 2012 after suffering his lone defeat in his last fight of 2011, his first scheduled 10-round fight which he lost to the son of hard-hitting former World Champion Julian Jackson, John Jackson, via a sixth-round technical knockout. Leatherwood won his last start via a six-round decision over Marcos Primera last Dec. 8.
“I’ve seen a couple of videos on Centeno,” Leatherwood said. “But I really don't know too much about the guy. I’m just looking at him as my next victim.”
Santos, an outstanding amateur, was a member of the Puerto Rico National team for two years before turning pro in February 2011. An aggressive boxer with excellent punching power, the 5-foot-5½-inch, 23-year-old has won his last three fights by knockout, including a first-round technical knockout win over Terrence Walker in his last fight on Feb. 23.
“My style in the ring is explosive, with bad intentions, because I’m waiting for the big punch,” said Santos, who is fighting in the continental United States for the third time. “I go forward, waiting for my time.”
Hoskins, like Santos, also fought two weeks ago, scoring a first-round knockout win over Eduardo Rivera on Feb. 21. A three-year pro, the 5-foot-5-inch, 22-year-old possesses good skills and movement and a solid punch. He is also one of 16 children, which might explain his fighting prowess.
“I have six sisters and two brothers on my mom’s side, and I have six sisters and a brother on my dad’s side,” he said. “My dad’s kids live in San Francisco. I’m the middle of my mom’s kids, so most of us are out of the house. We grew up in the same house, though. My dad passed away when I was seven. I was raised by my grandmother and grandfather. I’m the only boxer in the family.”
Barry Tompkins will call the action from ringside with Steve Farhood and former World Champion Raul Marquez serving as the expert analysts. The executive producer is Gordon Hall with Richard Gaughan producing and Rick Phillips directing.

|
|
|
NEW YORK (Feb. 28, 2013) - One of the most dynamic prospects in the junior middleweight division, KeAndrae "Lightning" Leatherwood (12-1-1, 8 KO's), will headline the March 8 edition of ShoBox: The New Generation live on SHOWTIME at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast) from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.
Leatherwood will be opposed by undefeated prospect Hugo Centeno Jr. (17-0, 8 KO's), of Oxnard, Calif., in a 10-round junior middleweight bout promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Boxing 360. Leatherwood, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., was a standout amateur who fought in more than 120 bouts, including competing in the National Junior Olympics and International Junior Olympics.
Centeno Jr. vs. Leatherwood, a 10-round junior middleweight bout, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. PT on fight night with the first bell sounding at 5:15 p.m. PT. The ShoBox: The New Generation telecast will air live on SHOWTIME beginning at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
Tickets, priced at $25, $35 and $45, are on sale at Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.
Leatherwood possesses some of the fastest hands in the division, hence his nickname, "Lightning." This bout will be a step-up in competition for Leatherwood, but his team knows his work ethic and world-class endurance will allow him to succeed. Leatherwood has been preparing for this next level of competition, readying his body and skills for the task at hand.
Fighting in the main event on the well-respected ShoBox series, Leatherwood knows this is the perfect opportunity to showcase his skills and propel himself to the next stage of his career. "I'm so excited to be on SHOWTIME," he said. "The exposure will be great for my career. My promoter Mario Yagobi has really come through and given me a golden opportunity. Now it's up to me to make a believer out of all the new eyes that will get the chance to see me perform."
Leatherwood is also excited about putting a win over a prospect like Centeno on his resume; a win that could vault Leatherwood up the ratings and further his chances at a title shot down the road.
"There are going to be some pretty upset people after I win, but my team and I will continue with the strategy we have laid out," he said. "This is an important fight for my career, but it's just the first step and I know I have to fulfill my end of things, which I will do on March 8."
Boxing 360's Yagobi believes this will be a coming out party for KeAndrae and he feels that a win under the bright lights of ShoBox will earn him the luxuries afforded to the cream of crop.
"KeAndrae is going to put on a show, but it isn't just about getting the win for him," Yagobi said. "He wants to gain some new fans and put SHOWTIME in a position where they have to bring him back. The kid is exciting to watch. I have no doubt he will take care of business on March 8 and then we can continue with the business of building him properly."
KeAndrae Leatherwood is promoted by Boxing 360. For more information on Leatherwood please visit www.boxing360.com. |

CULINARY TEAM AT FANTASY SPRINGS PREPARES
EXQUISITE MEALS FOR 25TH ANNUAL FRANK SINATRA CELEBRITY INVITATIONAL

|
February 6, 2013 – INDIO, CA – Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is gearing up to host the 25th annual Frank Sinatra Starkey Technologies Celebrity Invitational on February 21-23. The tournament will be played at the property’s spectacular Eagle Falls Golf Course. The two day celebrity-amateur golf event, comes with three nights of dinner parties, entertainment and a fashion show luncheon, all dedicated to raising money for the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center in the memory of Frank Sinatra.
In preparation for the star-studded event, Fantasy Springs’ culinary team, led by Executive Chef Freddy Rieger, must ensure that the menus for each seating are extra special. Rieger held an exclusive food tasting event for Mrs. Sinatra and her closest friends, letting them sample three different appetizers, salads, main courses and desserts for both the luncheon and black tie gala. Mrs. Sinatra’s choices will now be the various courses for celebrities and guests attending the charity event.
Her selections for the luncheon include an oak leaf lettuce bouquet and Carpaccio of roasted golden beets; Chicken Florentine and sundried tomato-boursin pesto crusted salmon, served with sundried polenta cake. For dessert she picked a white chocolate-pistachio mousse pyramid.
For the black tie gala, Mrs. Sinatra selected an exotic mixed greens bouquet and lump crab Louie salad in endive. The main course selection was grilled filet mignon and Adriatic prawns with cheddar truffle mashed potatoes, asparagus, julienne vegetable medley and red pepper coulis. For dessert, her choice was a chocolate opera cake with espresso butter cream and chocolate sauce.
This year, Golf legend Ken Venturi, one of Frank Sinatra’s best friends, will co-host the event with Barbara Sinatra. Fe Zandi’s couture designs will be featured in the Friday Fashion Show Luncheon and Frankie Valli will headline the Saturday night Gala. This will be the 4th straight year that Fantasy Springs has hosted the charity event.

SHOWTIME FREE PREVIEW WEEKEND
TO FEATURE EXCITING DOUBLEHEADER
ON
SHOBOX: THE NEW GENERATION
|
|
| |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - JANUARY 8, 2013
|
|
|
|
|
NEW YORK (Jan. 8, 2013) – As part of a Free Preview Weekend on SHOWTIME® that begins this Friday, Jan. 11, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 13, over 80 million households will be able to watch the fighters who will compete on a ShoBox: The New Generation doubleheader Friday live on SHOWTIME (11:15 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast).
Three of the boxers on the Jan. 11 ShoBox twin bill at Fantasy Springs Casino Resort in Indio, Calif., are undefeated. The other has one loss. Combined, they are 59-1-1, but for all their success, you can’t beat the kind of exposure they’ll get during a Free Weekend Preview that offers the opportunity to sample the premium network’s award-winning programming on SHOWTIME, SHOWTIME HD™, SHOWTIME On Demand® and SHOWTIME ANYTIME®.
“A great example of what TV exposure can do for a young fighter is Austin Trout,” ShoBox analyst Steve Farhood said. “He was a world champion who was virtually unknown to even hardcore fight fans, but then he fought on ShoBox (Frank LaPorto), and then shortly thereafter on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING (Delvin Rodriguez). That landed him a fight with Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden on SHOWTIME. He won that and now everyone knows who he is.
“Friday is a huge opportunity for the four ShoBox fighters, who have never approached this level number of available viewers. When you deliver in a situation like this it almost guarantees that promoters and the TV networks will bring you back because the public wants to see you again.”
In the 10-round main event, always-exciting Ronny Rios (19-0, 9 KO’s), of Santa Ana, Calif., puts his unbeaten record on the line when he faces former WBA Super Bantamweight World Champion Rico Ramos (21-1, 11 KO’s), of Los Angeles, for the vacant NABF Featherweight Championship.
In a clash of unbeaten junior middleweights, Daquan Arnett (9-0, 6 KO's), of Orlando, Fla., takes on Brandon Quarles (10-0-1, 2 KO's) of Alexandria, Va., in the 8-round co-feature.
One of Southern California’s most popular fighters, undefeated NABO Bantamweight Champion Randy “El Matador” Caballero (17-0, 9 KO’s), of Coachella, will make his 11th appearance at Fantasy Springs when he meets an opponent to be announced in the top non-televised fight.
Tickets priced at $25, $35 and $45 are available at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. PT and the first fight begins at 6:30 p.m. The event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona.
Farhood says the first ShoBox event of the year is atypical of the critically acclaimed series, which has been a hit since its inception in July 2001.
“The main event is another classic ShoBox fight with an unbeaten prospect moving up in class against a former world champion,” Farhood said. “It is an age-old tradition, but in this case Ramos is a younger former world champion and presumably has a lot of fight left in him.
“It’s also crossroads fight because Rios needs to prove he can become a contender and Ramos needs to prove he’s still a top-10 fighter. This is a fascinating style matchup with Rios being the pressure fighter and Ramos the boxer-puncher.
“What’s interesting about the co-feature is that we have Arnett coming off a fight in which he was dropped and almost stopped getting right back in with his second consecutive unbeaten opponent. It’s time for Arnett to show he’s a legitimate prospect.”
The 5-foot-6 ½ Rios, a former amateur standout who turns 23 on Jan. 22, is making his ShoBox debut. A stable mate of WBC World Champions Abner Mares (super bantamweight) and Daniel Ponce de Leon (featherweight), the crowd-pleasing four-year pro is taking a significant leap in class after being steadily stepped up in recent fights and giving solid performances.
“I’ve been training really hard, and we really want to take advantage of this opportunity that’s been presented to us,” said the offensive-minded Rios, who’s facing by far his toughest opponent on paper to date. “I’m looking forward to a good fight.”
The rising Rios is a gym rat who enjoys reading mystery novels in his spare time. A boxer-puncher with solid speed and movement, he’s campaigned at featherweight and junior lightweight the last few years. He made his 10-round debut in his last start, scoring an impressive ninth-round knockout over game veteran David Rodela in a thrilling all-action junior lightweight slugfest on July 28 at Fantasy Springs.
Ramos, 25, is a ShoBox alum and former amateur standout who captured the WBA 122-pound world title in his 20th pro fight with a spectacular, come-from-behind, one-punch, seventh-round knockout over Akifumi Shimoda on July 9, 2011.
The 5-foot-5 Ramos, currently ranked No. 7 in the IBF, No. 8 in the WBA and No. 23 in the WBC at 122 lbs., is seeking his second consecutive victory since losing the WBA crown in his first defense to unbeaten Guillermo Rigondeaux on Jan. 12, 2012. In his lone fight since, Ramos finished much the strongest to win an 8-round majority decision in a spirited encounter over previously undefeated Efrian Equiovoas last June 23 by the tallies of 78-74 twice and 76-76.
While his opponent’s weight fluctuates slightly from fight to fight, Ramos has been fighting at or around 122 pounds since going pro in March 2008. However, this move north in weight isn’t necessarily a permanent one.
“I just want to see how I feel at 126 because I know I’m strong at 122. We’re going to see where it takes us right now,” said the more experienced Ramos, a natural counterpuncher who possesses good natural athletic ability, skills, speed and movement. “I can still make 122, but I just want to see where the opportunities are. This isn’t a permanent move up in weight.’’
Reunited with trainer Charles “Chili” Wilson and re-energized after some time off, Ramos is primed for a top effort. “I’ve been working on a lot of stuff: throwing more punches, not tensing up too much, throwing more combinations with a lot of movement and not standing straight up,” he said. “I’m ready for all fighters from 122 to 126. I’ll be back on top. I’m happy to be back.”
Arnett will be making his eight-round debut and first official start on ShoBox although highlights of his last fight on Nov. 9 (a fourth-round KO over Jeremiah Wiggins) were shown during the ShoBox telecast. He also fought on SHOWTIME EXTREME, winning a six-round decision over Jesus Tavera last Sept. 8.
An accomplished amateur and 2009 Junior Olympic national champion, the talented, aggressive-minded 5-foot-10, 20-year-old Arnett has kept busy since turning pro on Dec. 1, 2011. He had eight fights in 2012, winning six by knockout. He’s gone into the fourth round four times and six full rounds once.
Arnett’s last fight was his roughest as he had to rebound from a knockdown to stop Wiggins. Arnett had dominated the first two rounds, but got nailed by a hard right hand by Wiggins during an exchange in the third. Visibly hurt, Arnett held on and got through the round. In the fourth, Arnett knocked Wiggins through the ropes from a barrage of punches and the referee stepped in and stopped it at 1:59.
One of three children, Arnett hails from a family of fighters. “My younger brother is a top amateur, my sister, who got into the sport pretty much for self-defense, knows more about boxing than a lot of people I know,” Arnett said. “My dad was a boxer, all of my cousins competed in the amateurs and my uncle was a Golden Gloves champion. Boxing’s my life. My dad literally introduced us to boxing when we were one and two years old – from the time we were able to walk.”
Quarles is a 5-foot-10, 26-year-old who is managed and trained by George Peterson, the career-long manager and trainer of former Two-Time WBO Welterweight World Champion Paul Williams.
A pro since July 2010, Quarles is coming off of a six-round draw in his last start on Oct. 27 against John Mackey. Quarles, who was decked in the first, registered a knockdown in the final 10 seconds to get the draw. Two judges had it 56-apiece; the other scored it for Mackey, 57-55.
“I’ve seen Arnett fight a few times and I’ve seen him hurt a few times, too,” said Quarles, a boxer with good speed and movement who was one of Williams’ top sparring partners. “My friend Jeremiah Wiggins just fought him. He told me, ‘just don’t wait on him. Take it to him as soon as the bell rings.’
“I’m just ready to fight. I’m ready to put on a show. It’s what it is – go for broke.”
Barry Tompkins will call the action from ringside with Farhood and former World Champion Raul Marquez serving as expert analysts. The executive producer is Gordon Hall with Richard Gaughan producing and Rick Phillips directing.

LEGENDARY SINGER, SONGWRITER PAUL ANKA RETURNS TO THE STAGE AT
FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
December 28, 2012 – INDIO, CA – Paul Anka skyrocketed to fame in the late 1950s and 1960s with hit songs like "Diana", "Lonely Boy", and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder". He went on to write such well-known music as the theme for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, one of Tom Jones' biggest hits, "She's a Lady", and the English lyrics for Frank Sinatra's signature song, "My Way". On Saturday, March 16th, the legendary performer will take the stage once again at Fantasy Springs and further solidify his status as a music icon.
Anka first achieved success in the 1950s as a teenage singing star who also wrote many of his own songs. Although he appeared in several films, his main interest was music and he concentrated his efforts into composing and making nightclub appearances in Las Vegas. Songwriting and performing “are what gave me the confidence to keep going,” he says. Becoming a junior associate of Sinatra and the Rat Pack also had its privileges. By the ‘70s, the success of “My Way” and a string of hits like “(You’re) Having My Baby” confirmed his iconic status. Since the inception of his career, Mr. Anka’s songs (BMI Statics) have been performed well over 90 million times.
His later achievements as a recording artist included “Hold Me ‘Til the Morning Comes,” a hit duet with Peter Cetera in 1983, the Spanish-language album Amigos in 1996, and Body of Work, a 1998 duets album that featured Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Patti LaBelle, Tom Jones and daughter Anthea Anka. If this wasn’t enough, it was revealed upon its release in 2009, that Anka co-wrote Michael Jackson’s posthumous #1 worldwide hit, “This Is It,” which has further cemented his place upon the most prolific and versatile songwriters of any generation. He has written for the motion picture, The Longest Day, For Darrell Zanuck, as well as Buddy Holly, and Barbara Streisand and recently received the prestigious Johnny Mercer Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Anka’s two most recent albums – Rock Swings and now Classic Songs, My Way – ingeniously featured songs originally created by some of the biggest rock performers of the day – as well as other established artists across several genres.
The twist: Paul Anka did the songs ‘his way.’ His goal: “taking great songs and rework them so they’re natural for me.” With the help of his five daughters, Anka spent months researching music from the ‘80s and ‘90s, trying to find the songs that would work in the radical new context he proposed. The songs that made the cut included Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life,” Lionel Richie’s “Hello” and Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven.” Even more dramatic were his transformations of “Wonderwall” by Oasis, “Black Hole Sun” by Soundgarden and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
Rock Swings went Top 10 in the UK, and was certified gold in the UK, France, and Canada, hit No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Jazz Albums chart and went on to sell half a million units worldwide.
Mr. Anka is the recipient the prestigious Chevalier De”L”Ordre Des Arts Et Des Letters, an honor presented to very few people. He was also awarded the Order of Canada. He has been named the 18th most successful artist in Billboard history, putting him alongside music greats, Elvis Presley and the Beatles. Throughout his career, his LP single sales number over 80 million.
Anka is currently working on a book and a duets album that are both set for release in April 2013.
Tickets for the 8PM Paul Anka performance are on sale now for $79, $59, $39 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com. |

THE GOLDEN BOYS WILL TAKE OVER FANATSY SPRINGS THIS WINTER

December 12, 2012- INDIO, CA – The mere mention of songs such as “Forget Him,” “Diana,” “Tiger,” “Turn Me Loose,” and “Venus” make scores of music lovers from the 1950s and 1960s sing. In January, Fantasy Springs Resort Casino features three of the biggest teen heartthrobs on one stage that ever were - Bobby Rydell, Fabian and Frankie Avalon. Mark your calendar for Saturday, January 26th at 8:00p.m. for a rocking good time with the boys that rocked your world when times were perhaps simpler and more innocent.
In Bobby Rydell’s Allmusic.com biography, he says his interest in show business came at the age of four. His performance in the movie Bye Bye Birdie and his recordings "Wild One" and "Volare" made him a famous performer in the 1960s. He was also considered one of the period’s hottest teen idols.
Fabian, too, enjoyed superstardom as a teen idol of the 1950s and 1960s. He rose to national prominence after performing several times on American Bandstand. Eleven of his songs reached the Billboard Hot 100 listing.
In 1959, Frankie Avalon hit it big with two smash songs on the Billboard Hot 100 - "Venus" and "Why.” Avalon teamed frequently with Annette Funicello to star in a number of popular beach comedy movies during the 1960s. The wholesome and romantic coupling of "Frankie and Annette" in summer movies such as Beach Party and Beach Blanket Bingo became iconic figures in American films during that era. He also starred in several dramatic movies such as The Alamo and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
Tickets go on sale Friday, December 14th for $49, $39 and $29 and may be purchased via telephone at (800) 827-2946, online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com or in person at the Fantasy Springs Box Office.

RICO RAMOS SET TO SQUARE OFF IN A COMPELLING
SHOBOX: THE NEW GENERATION SEASON OPENER

|
|
|
|
|
LOS ANGELES, December 12 - Since 2001, ShoBox: The New Generation has delivered boxing’s top prospects and future world champions to fight fans’ living rooms across the country. On Friday, January 11 that tradition continues at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif., when undefeated junior lightweight rising star Ronny Rios squares off against former World Champion Rico Ramos for the vacant NABF Featherweight Championship and Florida power-puncher Daquan Arnett takes on fellow unbeaten prospect Brandon Quarles. Also featured in a special attraction will be local hero Randy Caballero’s return to the ring in front of his hometown fans for the first time since this past summer.
Rios vs. Ramos, a 10-round bout for the vacant NABF Featherweight Championship, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. PT on fight night with the first bell sounding at 6:30 p.m. PT. The ShoBox: The New Generation telecast will air live on SHOWTIME®beginning at 11:15 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).
Tickets priced at $25, $35 and $45 are available for purchase at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.
Ready to make his move on the elite in the 130 pound division, 22-year-old Ronny Rios (19-0, 9 KO’s) gets his chance against Ramos on January 11. A former national amateur champion, Santa Ana, California’s Rios scored a win over highly-regarded prospect Roger “Speedy” Gonzalez in 2011 and followed that with three 2012 victories including knockouts over Jeremy McLaurin and “Dangerous” David Rodela. Now Rios will kick off the most pivotal year of his four-year career against former World Champion Ramos.
Pico Rivera, California’s Rico Ramos (21-1, 11 KO’s) stunned the boxing world with his rapid ascent in the super bantamweight division, but he made good on his promise to get to the top when he knocked out Akifumi Shimoda in July of 2011 to win the WBA Super Bantamweight World Title. Ramos’ reign ended at the hands of Cuban star Guillermo Rigondeaux in January of 2012, but the talented 25-year-old quickly got back in the win column in June with a victory over previously unbeaten Efrain Esquivias.
One of Southern California’s most popular fighters, Coachella’s Randy Caballero (17-0, 9 KO’s) has been untouchable at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and he brings out his legion of fans to cheer him on every night out. The current NABO Bantamweight Champion, 22-year-old “El Matador” will kick off 2013 at home in a 10-round battle against an opponent to be determined.
A 2009 Junior Olympic national champion, 20-year-old Daquan Arnett (9-0, 6 KO’s) appears to be on the fast track to big things in the junior middleweight division. A professional since 2011, Arnett fought eight times in 2012, winning each fight more impressively than the last. In his most recent outing, he showed the heart of a champion in rising from a third round knockdown to stop previously unbeaten Jeremiah Wiggins in the very next round.
Facing Arnett will be Alexandria, Virginia native Brandon Quarles (9-0-1, 2 KO’s). The talented 26-year-old boxer is eager to make a name for himself on the world stage and on January 11, will look to take Arnett into deep water that he hasn’t yet experienced.

March 2012 marked Fator’s three-year anniversary as a successful headliner on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. In November, Fator signed a new contract that will keep him at The Mirage Hotel & Casino through 2016.
At Fantasy Springs, Fator will be joined by a stellar cast of puppets including Monty Carlo the lounge singer, Winston The Impersonating Turtle, cowboy Walter T. Airdale, Julius the soul singer, Vikki “The Cougar,” Wrex the crash test dummy and hip hop diva Berry Fabulous. Each character allows Fator to sing a different genre in an unbelievable manner, with performances ranging from Garth Brooks and Dean Martin to Aretha Franklin, Lady Gaga and more.
Fator’s rise to fame from his time with a Texas-based cover band to his very own theatre at The Mirage Hotel & Casino was 32 years in the making. He first discovered his knack for impressions at the age of six, when he began performing Bill Cosby comedy routines for his family and friends. As a young man, Fator sang lead vocals for Texas the Band, a group whose playlist ranged from Garth Brooks to Guns N’ Roses.
A trip to Las Vegas in 2005 sparked Fator’s desire to become a big-name entertainer and he left with visions of billboards and bright lights, all donning his name. Unwilling to give up on his dreams, Fator was persuaded to audition for “America’s Got Talent” when he saw a ventriloquist from season one on the “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
During his audition, Fator stunned the judges with his puppet Emma Taylor and her impression of Etta James. In the final episode, a stunning Roy Orbison performance of “Crying,” courtesy of Winston The Impersonating Turtle, led to an eruption of praise from the audience, the judges and America. His life would never be the same.
In one year, Fator went from small-town appearances to “The Today Show,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and, at long last, “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
Tickets for the 8 p.m. Terry Fator performance go on sale December 7th, for $89, $69, $49 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com. |

FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO AND KPLM RADIO ANNOUNCE WILLIE NELSON BACK ON STAGE IN INDIO
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
November 21, 2012 – INDIO, CA – If ever the words "living legend" were more than just public relations bluster, the application would be to Willie Hugh Nelson. The iconic Texan is the creative genius behind historic recordings like "Crazy," "Hello Walls," “Red Headed Stranger” and “Stardust.” His career has spanned six decades. His catalog boasts more than 200 albums and on Friday, March 1st Nelson will take the stage once again, at Fantasy Springs.
Nelson has earned every conceivable award and honor to be bestowed a person in his profession. He has also amassed reputable credentials as an author, actor and activist. In many ways, however, the weighty distinction "living legend" does Nelson a disservice, for it discounts the extent to which he is a thriving, relevant and progressive musical and cultural force. In the last five years alone he delivered 10 new releases, two of which received Grammy nominations, and a career-spanning box set, released his debut novel and again headlined Farm Aid, an event he co-founded in 1985, all the while continuing to lobby against horse slaughter and produce his own blend of biodiesel fuel.
As ever, Nelson tours tirelessly, climbing aboard Honeysuckle Rose III (he rode his first two buses into the ground), taking his music and fans on a seemingly endless journey to places that were well worth the ride.
Just this year, Nelson entered into a historic new record deal with Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment. The deal marks a label homecoming for Nelson, who, from 1975-1993, cut a phenomenal string of top-selling singles and album for Columbia Records, beginning with 1975’s seminal smash Red Headed Stranger. To kick off the new agreement, fans can look forward to five brand-new albums, the first, Heroes, was released May 2012. The albums will showcase new songs and deep country classics with guest artists including Merle Haggard, Snoop Dogg, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Joe Shaver, Sheryl Crow, Jamey Johnson, Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson. Just this month, Nelson released his book, Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I die.
Tickets for the 8PM Willie Nelson performance go on sale Friday, November 23rd for $99, $79, $69, $39 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com. |

|
November 20, 2012 – INDIO, CA – Having just finished a sold out run on Broadway, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will make their return to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. On Sunday, February 24th the group will take over the Special Events Center stage and show why they are just as hot now in the 21st century, as they were in the 1960’s.
Thanks to the success of the Tony-winning musical Jersey Boys, which chronicles the life and times of Frankie and his legendary group, such classic songs as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Rag Doll,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” are all the rage all over again. With the play in its seventh blockbuster year on Broadway and five other casts performing Jersey Boys nightly from Las Vegas to London, the real Frankie Valli is also packing venues around the world.
Frankie Valli has been successfully touring and making music for more than fifty years now, both as a solo artist and as the lead singer of The Four Seasons. Valli’s first taste of national exposure came in 1962 when he and The Four Seasons performed their single “Sherry” on American Bandstand. The performance took the nation by storm propelling the group to their first #1 record and making them a household name. The hit train continued to roll for The Four Seasons in 1963 and 1964 as they went on to produce several more #1 hits.
After much success with The Four Seasons in the first half of the ‘60s, Valli released his first solo effort in 1967, Frankie Valli: Solo. The album contained the classic hit “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.” He would go on to produce nine Top 40 hits and two #1 singles, “My Eyes Adored You” and “Grease.” Valli’s solo career never led him astray from his original group as he continued to be a contributing member of The Four Seasons throughout his career.
With Jersey Boys now finishing its 7th sold out year on Broadway and the success of his first studio album in 15 years, Romancing the ‘60s, Frankie Valli is as big as he was in 1962 and not looking to hang up the microphone anytime soon.
Tickets for the 7 PM Frankie Valli performance are on sale now for $59, $49, $29 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com. |

FANTASY SPRINGS GIVES THE COACHELLA VALLEY
"SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT"
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
November 13, 2012 – INDIO, CA – Fantasy Springs is giving the entire Coachella valley “Something to Talk About” with their most recent announcement of Bonnie Raitt live in concert February 16th. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is the latest of a handful of top acts to take the stage at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs.
Raitt’s tour comes in the wake of the release of her nineteenth album Slipstream. This album marks her return to the studio after seven long years, as fans and the music industry alike have waited with great anticipation for its release. Much of this anticipation has been due to Raitt shifting away from Capitol Records and Warner Brothers, and releasing the album under her freshly launched independent label Redwing Records. Lauded with critical acclaim, bolstered by a huge US Tour and considered one of the best albums of 2012 so far by Rolling Stone Magazine, 'Slipstream' is ongoing proof of Raitt's continued popularity and relevance in American music. 2012 was a busy year for Raitt, with an eighty-one date tour of North America and several live TV performances including The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Colbert Report, Good Morning America, Austin City Limits and coming up on December 4th and 5th, appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC-TV) and The View (ABC-TV,) respectively.
Bonnie Raitt’s long and successful career began in the late '60s when she decided to move from Los Angeles to Cambridge, Massachusetts. As a Harvard/Radcliffe student majoring in Social Relations and African Studies, she attended classes and immersed herself in the city's turbulent cultural and political activities. Three years after entering college, Bonnie left to commit herself full-time to music, and shortly afterward was opening for surviving blues heroes such as Sippie Wallace, Son House and Muddy Waters.
Word spread quickly of the young red-haired blues woman, her soulful way of singing, and her unparalleled insight into blues slide guitar. Warner Brothers was the first to take notice, and in 1971 released her debut album, Bonnie Raitt. Her interpretation of classic blues coupled with powerful slide guitar riffs made a lasting critical impression, and it was evident from early on that this talented musician was here to stay.
Over the next six years she would record five albums. Give It Up, Takin' My Time, Streetlights, and Home Plate were followed in 1977 by Sweet Forgiveness, which featured her first hit single, a gritty Memphis/R&B arrangement of Del Shannon's "Runaway." Three Grammy nominations followed in the 1980s, as she released The Glow, Green Light, and Nine Lives.
Nine albums under her belt and now a household name, Bonnie did what she does best and went right back to the studio. Her next album, Nick of Time, was the game changer she had been hoping for her entire career. The album was an immediate hit as it shot to #1 on the charts. Her momentum carried on as her next two albums, Luck of the Draw and Longing in Their Hearts, shot to #2 and #1 on the charts, respectively. Raitt has had a long and successful career that she looks to build on with the release of her new album, Slipstream, and her accompanying tour.
Tickets for the 8 PM Bonnie Raitt performance go on sale Friday, November 16th for $89, $69, $49 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.

THE SWEET SOUNDS OF MOTOWN WILL BE HEARD AT FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
November 1, 2012 – INDIO, CA – Two iconic bands that have stood the test of time will display their talents on stage at the Fantasy Springs Special Events Center. On Saturday, January 19th the Temptations and the Four Tops will prove why they have become cultural heroes to their millions of fans.
For more than forty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits, and sold-out performances throughout the world.
The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964 however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the things You Do” turned the guys into stars.
An avalanche of hits followed, many of which...”My Girl,” for instance...attained immortality. “It’s Growing,” “Since I Lost My Baby;,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is only Skin Deep,” “I Wish It Would Rain”...the hits kept coming.
The classic lineup was Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. Beyond the fabulous singing, The Temps became known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations. The Temptations Walk became a staple of American style. Flair, flash and class.
Another group that helped define the Motown sound of the 1960’s was the quartet known as the Four Tops. They have been labeled as “The Immortals” by Rolling Stone Magazine. The Four Tops are the story four powerful voices and four powerful friendships. The founding members of the Four Tops, Levi Stubbs, Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Renaldo “Obie” Benson and Lawrence Payton, performed together for more than four decades, building their harmonies, chart-toping songs and success on the foundation of a friendship that began as teenagers.
It was in 1954, at a high school party in Detroit when the group was urged by partygoers to provide some impromptu entertainment. The synergy was obvious, immediate and strong. The quartet decided to start performing and called themselves The Four Aims (Aiming for the Top). Their popularity grew as they performed at small cubs all over Detroit honing their act while singing jazz and standards. Gaining popularity for their pure harmonies and polished performances.
Over the years their repertoire has included doo-wop, jazz, soul music, R&B, disco, adult contemporary, hard rock and show tunes. They turned out dozens of chart topping hits including, “Baby I Need Your Loving”, “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) “, “It’s the Same Old Song” and “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I Got”.
Tickets for the 8PM Temptations and Four Tops performance go on sale Friday, November 2nd for $59, $49, $29 at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone (800) 827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com. |
