She won the hearts of America, singing on a nationally televised talent show in 2002. CLARKSON, born in 1982 and raised in the small Texas suburb town of Burleson, originally studied to become a marine biologist, until she made the decision to try singing after one of her 7th grade teachers overheard her vocalizing in the school hallway. After joining the school choir, Clarkson won the lead roles in several of the schools musical productions.

With her vocal talent and confidence growing, the 20 year old performer auditioned for a new TV show in 2002 that featured singers from all across the country. She won a place in the cast and the nations’ love affair with the young singer began. In October of the same year, she was crowned the champion and won a coveted recording contract to RCA Records.

Lynyrd Skynyrd is the definitive Southern rock band, fusing the overdriven power of blues-rock with a rebellious Southern image and a hard rock swagger. Skynyrd never relied on jazzy improvisations. Saturday, July 4th, celebrate your independence to rock with a “Rock Yard on Steroids” night featuring the band Kiss Army. Kiss Army rocks just like the originals of Kiss – Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, Gene Simmons and Peter Criss. Sing along to Kiss hits such as “Rock And Roll All Nite,” “King of the Night Time World,” “Detroit Rock City,” and the ballad that ensconced the band in stardom, “Beth.” The name “Kiss Army” represents the legions of Kiss fans around the world.

Friday, July 10th marks something new in the Rock Yard. The first episode of “Rock-a-oke” – an American Idol-style rock music singing competition - kicks off.

The “Rock-a-oke” competition begins with the Steel Rod Band - then Rocktane takes over to rock the night away.
